I like these clothing tags becuase they are busy and colourful, the writing stands out becuase of the bright colours and the bold text.

I really like these old luggage tags, the worn string gives an aged effect. The writing looks as if it has been done on a type writer which also adds to the effect. The shape of the tag is very straight and angular. I like the simple box shape.

Beth Fletcher: The hard aggressive brush strokes create texture and make the painting look moody, I'm going to incorporate these things into my own work. I think all the different shades of the same colours work very well together.

Alfred Wallis: I dislike this picture because it looks like something I would have painted in when I was 10. Usually I like quite simple paintings but I don't with this one, I think it is the black outline with makes the simplicity stand out.

Coastal Project

Kurt Jackson:  I really like Kurt's painting of the coast line, i like how the sky has a dabbed effect it creates the clouds in the sky and makes them look realistic. The fore ground stands out because of the blues, yellows and browns, it looks very earthy but abstract at the same time. The different shades of blue in the sea creates shadow and looks as if the light is reflecting off the surface of the water.

The grey colours indecate the dim weather, the grey sky reflecting on the sea making that grey and dull too. The shore and sea blend into each to other but the pebbles create a fore ground.
